Practical Posterior Esthetic Dentistry
Course
Each participant will be treating their own patient at this program, being assisted by their own chairside in a environment similar to their own operatory. By the end of the weekend, they will be able to enjoy seeing results similar to the photographs below
Instructors
Dr. Ed Lowe DDS is a Fellow of the Academy of General Dentistry as well as a member of the Ontario Dental Association, the Academy of General Dentistry, the Society of Crown & Bridge Prosthodontics, the Canadian Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry.
Mr. Nelson Rego owns and operates "Smile Designs by Rego", a progressive dental laboratory specializing in ceramics in Downey, California. Mr. Rego is a certified dental technician (CDT) who has studied with some of the best dentists and ceramists in dentistry today.
Description
DAY ONE:
- Techniques: When to use direct composition or all-ceramics
- Preparation Guidelines: Conservative parameters, amamentarium, simplified sequential protocol
- High-Tech Workshops: Digital photography & Laser Dentistry
DAY TWO:
- Material Selection: Learn how to choose the right material for the right indication
- Adhesive Protocol: Reinforce remaining tooth structure,reduce chair time,ensure the long term durability
- Predicable Placement: Standardized system for isolation, placement, bonding
DAY THREE:
- Case Presentations: See examples of successfully completed cases spanning a variety of techniques and materials
- Practice building: Tips and tricks for building the esthetic aspect of your restorative practice and increasing case acceptance
Learning Objectives
Ideal for dentists interested in increasing the esthetics and predictability of the posterior restorations they deliver to their patients. This live patient program will cover:
- Techniques: Ensuing predictable outcomes with direct composite resin and all-ceramic restorations
- Enhancing restorative longevity based on material selection/indication
- Preventing restorative failures in the posterior region
- Preparation and seating techniques
- Adhesive protocol
- Case presentation/practice building skills
Enrollment Limit
16 Doctors, each with one assistant and one patient. This course is taught in a small group setting to allow plenty of opportunity for one-on-one interaction with instructors.
Pre-requisite
Patient must be pre-screened to ensure suitability. Ideally, 1 to 3 restorations are planned with no risk of periodontal or endodontic complications. Study models, radiographs and treatment plan must be sent in prior to taking the course.
Case Selection, Preparation and Follow-up
1. Ideally, select a posterior quadrant with 2-3 onlays
2. Ensure that periodontal status is close to ideal and that risk of endodontic complication is minimal
3. Patient with uneventful medical history and awareness that they will be part of a group setting
4. Submissions prior to the program:
a) Full mouth series of radiographs
b) Study models
c) photographs of the quadrant to be completed
5. Your choice to complete your patient’s dentistry at:
a) no fee at all
b) laboratory fee only
c) laboratory fee and courtesy reduced clinical fee (offsets course tuition)
6. Orientation evening to be held prior to the actual clinical weekend to familiarize all participants with the TDLC facility, faculty, logistics of weekend.
7. At the end of the program, each participant will have access to a CD or web site of the 16 different treatment patient cases in the program with:
- pre-treatment radiographs, photographs and study models
- diagnosis and treatment plan
- post-treatment radiographs, photographs and study models
- detailed list of the technique, technology and instrumentation needed to achieve the most ideal result
- marketing and coaching tips for the team to best support the successful delivery of this procedure
- patient marketing literature and information
- treatment planning and case presentation
- introduction by the hygienist
- visual aids – photos and teaching models
- financial arrangements
- post treatment strategies and approaches
- follow-up validation at hygiene recare appointments
We are planning an optional follow-up session “down the road” to bring everyone together and discuss the happenings, questions and challenges since the program was delivered
